3 Mistakes You Could Be Making Right Now

Moving better and Feeling better is not all that complicated. Here are three small yet significant mistakes you could be making right now to impede your progress.

1. You think you need to do epic marathon training to see results.

This one I have a particular passion for dismantling. You do not need to do a 90 minute group exercise class, run with a weighted vest on, or do a high intensity burpee’s galore training to meet your fitness goals. The age old saying is less is more. But in PilatesBodyWorkout we say: Consistency over Intensity Show up 4-5 days a week and stop, drop and Pilates for 20 minutes + 10,000 steps/day. 2. You are distracted. We have all done it. Your phone beeps and you just have to check who texted you or emailed you. *Tip: keep your phone and other devices in a separate room while you are practicing Pilates or put your device on do not disturb. You deserve to move your body uninterrupted by the outside world. 3. You are not eating enough Protein Protein is the building block of life. It is the second largest component of human tissue after water. Your muscles, skin, hair, nails, organs, bones are all – guess what? Made of protein! Eating adequate amounts of protein results in:

  • Weight loss and weight management

  • Increase lean mass (muscle) *Just don’t get that twisted! Gaining muscle does not mean you’re going to look like Dwayne Johnson The Rock tomorrow. It just means you will be strong, appear strong and not look or move like a wilting piece of parsley.

  • Improve your metabolic health. *Translation: your ability to turn food into fuel for your body efficiently. Plus metabolic health implies the absence of metabolic diseases like diabetes, and is marked by normal blood sugar, minimal belly fat, stable appetite and much more.

Change these three simple things and I guarantee you see a dramatic change to your well-being and fitness.

See you on the mat!
